COLLEEN Weste is a Silk Shibori artist who creates unique shawls, scarves and garments in silk and wool.
Her fine silk creations are sensual and feminine, often reflecting the natural environment in which she lives. They are contemporary yet timeless. They are wearable art pieces.
Colleen uses a variety of techniques to achieve her creations; hand painting, Arashi Shibori pleating, Itajime clamping, discharge and eco dying. No two pieces are the same - each is unique.
The colours and textures of her works reflect her artistic inspiration while the technical skill of painting and pleating is carefully controlled as a result of years of experience.
